2019 FELLOW PROJECT
ORAL HISTORY PROJECT
As communities change, the histories that made them unique often disappear. Germaine will be working to ensure that the history of the Chicora\Cherokee Neighborhood in North Charlotte is not lost, and that the contributions that this community has made to the greater Charleston area are remembered and celebrated. She will be initiating an oral histories project that records the stories of elders living in this neighborhood. Centering Fresh Future Farms as third space, her oral histories project will become a part of the ongoing community-centered gatherings that take place through the Spring of 2020. Recorded narratives will be integrated into a podcast.
