Dear Friends,
A lot has happened this week. Social inequities that were already heightened by the impacts of COVID-19 were pushed over the edge by the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. Many of us are in pain, and rightfully questioning where their allies stand. I am coming to you today to make our position clear: The League of Creative Interventionists condemns racism and violence against African Americans and all people of color.
In keeping with our mission, LoCI remains dedicated to catalyzing movements for equitable community transformation. In this moment, we publicly reaffirm our commitment to persisting in this work by:
· continuing to create space and place for communities to come together to have the tough conversations needed to make change,
· moving these conversations into creative action, and working collaboratively to transform our neighborhoods and communities for the betterment of all people,
· leveraging our position as a national organization to support the voices and transformative work of our fellows, partners, neighbors, and communities, and
· continuing to build platforms for new leaders in and of our communities.
This is a dark moment for many of us; please remember that you are not alone. It will take all of us to build the cities and country we want to be in. The League is committed to joining you in this work.
Be safe. Be well.
