ALEXANDRA JANE
Alexandra Jane a.k.a. AJ (she/her) is an essayist and Black femme literary preservationist from Greensboro, North Carolina. With the loss of her mother at the age of 17, she often found herself without a sense of community, and found solace in the works of authors such as Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, and Audre Lorde as she transitioned into young adulthood. With this foundation, she sought to both explore and promote healing for Black women through texts that reflect their unique and shared experiences. She currently operates a Charlotte based book club, Unfold, focusing exclusively on the works of Black womanist writers.
2020 FELLOW PROJECT
LITERARY IMPACT, the TWOFOLD PROJECT
Twofold is a community initiative which will mentor community members via journaling and creative writing. This project is designed to create space for communities to explore history, personal identity, and their voice through written and spoken text. TWOFOLD is undoubtedly informed by the community. This work will center healing, community empowerment, and change through our neighbors’ written and spoken word which will explore history, identity, and be a platform for communities to tell their stories.
