JANELLE DUNLAP

Janelle is a mixed media social practice artist that uses space to disrupt expectations of time, culture and community. Pulling from her nearly 10 year non-profit career; working directly with at risk youth and community outreach for homeless populations, she seeks genuine connection between her art and the people she hopes to serve. Utilizing various applications of installation art, she is building bridges, blurring lines and providing visibility to moments and people who, often aren’t, but should be seen.

Reclamation of Resources- The installation of two bee hives in partnership with the Sustainability Village at Johnson C. Smith University. Transferred the program to Johnson C. Smith University for future adoption into their agricultural programming.
Reclamation of Time- A culminating art show and workshop series, Time Camp, creatively explored time via the lens of Afrofuturism, national speakers and visual art. In partnership with Goodyear Arts, NC Museum of Art and Black Quantum Futurism.
